ASTHMA
Minimising Oral CorticoSteroid Use in Asthma using Treatable Traits
TTOCS
Home » Clinical Trials » Asthma – TTOCS
STUDY OUTLINE
Corticosteroid tablets, such as prednisone and prednisolone, are a powerful and lifesaving treatment for people with asthma. But these tablets also have negative side effects, especially when taken too often and in large doses.
To reduce these debilitating effects on patients and the cost to the healthcare system, we are conducting a study that aims to reduce oral corticosteroid use in patients with asthma. This research is an important step in designing a future where people living with asthma have good treatment options with less exposure to corticosteroids.

- Aged 18 years or older
- Have taken corticosteroid tablets in the past 24 months
WHAT'S INVOLVED
Around 300 people will take part in this trial
The trial runs for 1 year
Every person in the trial has a comprehensive assessment with the research team and has active asthma treatment
A participant summary will be given to you at the end of the study
If you take part, you will be randomly allocated to one of two groups. Group 1 will receive a recommendation for management as per asthma guidelines. Group 2 will receive the treatable traits approach.
Across the year, there are a maximum of 7 in-person appointments.
Additionally, there are a maximum of 6 phone calls with a researcher.
